The Brother of Jared was a righteous guy. But the Savior told him there was an area where He needed to step up his spiritual game.
“And for the space of three hours did the Lord talk with the brother of Jared, and chastened him because he remembered not to call upon the name of the Lord” (Ether 2:14).
In other words, he needed to pray!
Maybe this would be a good time to work on improving our personal prayers, too. You could make a “prayer rock” to help you remember to pray every morning and night.
Here’s how:
- Clean a small, smooth rock by washing it and letting it dry.
- Get acrylic paints and brushes. Or paint pens work really well!
- Decorate your rock with words or pictures to help you remember to pray.
Each morning, put the rock on your pillow. That way, you’ll have to move it before going to bed, which will remind you to pray!
When you take the rock off your pillow, put it in your shoes or some other place where it will remind you to pray in the morning.
We would love to see how your prayer rocks turned out. Email a picture to youth@ChurchofJesusChrist.org and tell us how it went!
