Have you ever heard of dinner parties where people role play different characters to solve a mystery? It can be really fun to pretend to be someone else!
This activity idea has a family history twist. Invite each member of your family or class to pick an ancestor that they want to impersonate. (FamilySearch.org can help!)
Ask them to learn about:
- Where that person grew up.
- When they lived, and what was happening in the world at that time.
- Any stories from their life.
For extra fun, invite them to dress up like their ancestor!
Then let everyone take turns introducing themselves as their ancestor self. Invite them to share any stories and talk about any world events that happened when they were alive.
Maybe you could even play a board game together—while trying to stay in character!
Our lives are blessed as we remember and connect with our heritage.
Note: We try to share a family home evening idea each Monday! Search for past ideas using the tag “home evening.”
