And if you wouldn’t want Him involved, don’t do it!

Scripture of the Day: “Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest, let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy thoughts be directed unto the Lord; yea, let all the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever.” — Alma 37:36

We know from other scriptures (like Alma 34:24–25) that Heavenly Father is concerned about and will help us with every aspect of our lives, not just what we think of as the “spiritual” parts.

This verse points out another way of looking at this truth. Alma says that whatever we do, we should do it with the Lord in mind. We should ask Him for His help and blessing. Whether that’s our church work, schoolwork, employment, dating, friendships, hobbies, sports—whatever we spend our time and emotions on, the Lord is willing to assist.

Logically, then, if you’re considering doing something that you wouldn’t want to involve the Lord in … maybe you shouldn’t do it at all.

If you have something in mind that it would feel wrong to ask God to help you with, that’s probably a good indication that you should think again.

Let that be your guideline. “Would I feel comfortable asking Heavenly Father to help me do this?” Isn’t it great to know that He wants to help us? He loves you!
