You want to be built on the right stuff!

Scripture of the Day: “And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.” —Helaman 5:12

The “foundation” is the load-bearing part of a building, usually below ground level. You build a sturdy foundation, then you construct the building on top of it.

Note that in this metaphor, Jesus Christ is not the foundation. He is, rather, the rock that we build our foundations on. He’s the One we have faith and hope in. He’s the basis of our testimony.

Notice that this verse doesn’t say “if” the storm comes, it says “when.” You will face trials! Your testimony will be challenged! That’s just part of life. The real question is, will you lose faith when that happens? Or will your testimony remain strong?

You are building your foundation right now, just by reading these daily gospel messages and scriptures. So keep up the good work! What can you do to make your foundation even stronger?
