Here’s a recipe you could try!

Bread is mentioned quite a few times in the scriptures. From miracles involving multiplying loaves of bread, to Jesus Christ being the Bread of Life, it is talked about in both literal and symbolic ways!

One of the most significant mentions of bread is during the Last Supper, when Christ introduced the sacrament to His apostles.

Maybe baking this flatbread could become one of your family’s Easter traditions!

Simple Lavash Bread

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (375 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) lukewarm water

Directions:

  1. Put a heat-safe baking sheet in the center rack of an oven, and preheat to 500˚F (260˚C).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Stir in the water, kneading into a smooth and soft dough. If crumbly, add a little more water. If sticky, add a little more flour.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a towel. Let rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Cut the rested dough into 4 equal pieces.
  6. Take one piece of dough and roll it as thin as possible into a long oval.
  7. Move it onto the baking sheet. Cook about 2–3 minutes, until there are some puffy brown spots.
  8. Move it to a plate and lightly sprinkle with water. Cover with a damp cloth.
  9. Repeat with remaining pieces of dough, stacking each on the previously cooked lavash.
  10. If you’re making this ahead of time, let it cool completely and store in an airtight bag at room temperature. Or freeze for up to one month.

Try experimenting with extras on your bread, like chives, sesame seeds, or honey!

Scripture Connection
