Imagine someone died while saving your life. One of the last things they did was to ask you to spend a few minutes each week remembering them.
That’s sort of what happened at the Last Supper. Jesus Christ and His disciples were honoring the Jewish feast of Passover. As part of the meal, Jesus gave His disciples the sacrament for the first time. He asked them to eat and drink to remember Him.
The Savior told them to love one another. They sang a hymn and prayed. Then Jesus entered the Garden of Gethsemane, where He suffered for each of us—which we will talk more about tomorrow.
What’s something you could do to make the sacrament more personally meaningful? Here are a few ideas:
- Memorize the sacrament prayers, found in Doctrine and Covenants 20:77 & 79.
- Volunteer to provide the sacrament bread.
- Pray for your heart to be prepared to take the sacrament.
- Find a favorite sacrament hymn.
Let’s remember our Savior the way He asked us to. Our lives can be joyful #BecauseofHim!
