The priesthood, like a rocket, delivers the payload of the Savior’s Atonement.
The Atonement of Jesus Christ makes it possible for us to return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father—but it only makes it possible. To actually benefit from it, we must receive priesthood ordinances and keep our covenants.
But if a holder of the priesthood isn’t keeping his covenants, he, like a defective rocket, can’t deliver those saving ordinances and opportunities to benefit from the Savior’s atoning power (the payload). That’s why living worthy of the priesthood is so mission critical.
