Empty
00:00

After you’re baptized, you are confirmed and invited to receive “the gift of the Holy Ghost” (see Articles of Faith 1:4). That means you can have the Spirit as a constant companion—as long as you’re striving to be worthy.

But we all make mistakes and bad choices at times. And some of those choices might affect our worthiness.

So is that it? Game over?

Not at all! Heavenly Father’s plan revolves around a Savior and the idea of repentance. Learning and growing from our mistakes is how we progress in life.

This song from the 2018 youth album reminds us that “empty” is not our destiny. Choose to be filled with peace and purpose instead!

Repenting Daily

Repenting should be part of our daily life and prayers—a relief and a joy, not something scary to avoid. How can you can practice repenting this week?

“Empty”

They laid their hands upon my head
And said those sacred words
And the Spirit filled my body
That’s when I felt it first
Then I always kept it with me
Through every waking hour
He was my constant companion
At least for a while

But then I made some choices that I still regret
I should have had the Spirit but instead

[Chorus]
I was empty
I was on my own
Just a shell of a man
Left all alone
But I fell down and I called out
Left my sins there on the floor
And I’m not empty anymore

Now whenever I feel hopeless
Or like I’m not enough
He comforts and protects me
And covers me with love
It’s a gift I couldn’t bear to be without
I’m so blessed He helped me turn my life around

‘Cause I was empty
I was on my own
Just a shell of a man
Left all alone
But I fell down and I called out
Left my sins there on the floor
And I’m not empty anymore

[Bridge]
Now I’m filled with His goodness
Filled with His peace
Filled with a purpose
Much bigger than me
I’m so grateful we can rectify the past
And I’m never, no I’m never going back

[Chorus]
