Children feel a sense of belonging when they serve people and participate in activities together. At home, children learn how to use their gifts and talents to bless and serve others. At church, children participate in service and activities.
Primary service or activities are generally held one to four times per month, depending on local circumstances. For example, distance, cost, time, safety, or other circumstances may make it impractical to meet more than once a month.
The bishopric may ask the Primary presidency to recommend Primary teachers or other ward members to be called as Primary activity leaders. At least two leaders must attend each activity. Leaders can be two women, two men, or a married couple. The “Protecting Children and Youth” training must be completed by leaders before participating in activities: ProtectingChildren.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
Primary activity leaders plan service and activities that focus on the four areas of growth: spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual.
Overnight camps are not held for children. However, local leaders may hold day camps for children participating in Children and Youth.
