Lesson 1: Study the Words of Christ Daily

Introduce the Principle

To lead your class members in the Savior’s way, you must strive to know the Savior. You will come to know Him as you study His words. The words of Christ contain true principles that will provide answers to any question, concern, or challenge you may encounter as a leader. Prophets have assured that daily scripture study will invite the Spirit into your life. As you diligently study the words of Christ, the Holy Ghost will inspire you to know how you can help and bless class members. Remember Nephi’s promise: “Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do” (2 Nephi 32:3).

Learn Together

  • What does it mean to you to “feast upon the words of Christ”? Describe a time when you have “feasted” on the scriptures. What did you learn? How did you feel?
  • Think of a principle that you have found in the scriptures that could strengthen you as a class leader. What specific ways could you apply that principle to help you lead more like the Savior?

Live What We Are Learning

Prayerfully study the scriptures every day this week with a specific young woman in mind or a challenge you are having as a leader. Pay attention to impressions from the Holy Ghost as you look for ways to follow the Savior’s example. Share your experience with your class presidency.
