From Pastor to Temple Worker

Sam Higgins served as the pastor of a Methodist congregation for many years before joining the Church in 1978. The son of Jamaican parents, Brother Higgins was born in Jamaica and came to the United States as a small child. A hard worker and high achiever, Brother Higgins served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, graduated from the University of Denver with a B.A. in business administration, and became an ordained Methodist clergyman. He was baptized in Sacramento, California. His Church efforts include serving as a temple worker in the Los Angeles Temple. Currently a member of the Eleventh Ward, Salt Lake Central Stake, Brother Higgins’s many contributions in church, community, and government have earned him awards, including the Certificate for Americans in Government Participation.—Edna Curtis, Salt Lake City, Utah
