Around the World with Love

On a 12-day tour that involved seven countries, President Nelson shared his love for the Lord and his love for Latter-day Saints.

“Our message to you … is the same as the message we’ve given to others,” President Russell M. Nelson said to a congregation at the final meeting of a recent worldwide tour, “that God lives, that Jesus is the Christ, and that this is His Church, restored in its fulness.”

President Nelson, accompanied by his wife, Wendy, and by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Patricia, visited members, leaders, and missionaries in Europe, the Holy Land, Africa, Asia, and the United States during a 12-day tour that involved seven countries.

“Really, everything we’ve done … could be summed up in two words—the temple,” President Nelson said. “In Jerusalem we talked about the temple Jesus loved. And in several countries, we talked about the temple that is going to come to their place.” At each location on the trip, in fact, he spoke about the blessings that come from living the covenants made in the temple. And now, at the final stop before returning home, President Nelson spoke about temples once again, this time in Laie, Hawaii, USA. Temples, he said, show the love Heavenly Father has for His children. Because of the ordinances of the temple, “families literally can be together forever.”

Speaking of the global ministry tour, President Nelson said, “It’s a global ministry and a global message—faith in the Lord Jesus Christ [and] strengthening your own families as they qualify for eternal life in the presence of Deity.”

Elder Holland reminded listeners that with the Lord Jesus Christ, they are never alone. He said that on the trip, “we’ve met multitudes. … We have been wonderfully, lovingly overwhelmed with [the] numbers.”

The tour began on April 12, 2018, in London, England, and included visits to Jerusalem, Israel; Nairobi, Kenya; Harare, Zimbabwe; Bengaluru, India; Bangkok, Thailand; Hong Kong; and Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Four cities visited are places where the Church has announced that temples will be built—Nairobi, Harare, Bangkok, and Bengaluru.

“The Lord’s message is for everyone,” President Nelson said. “This is a global work. … The message is to invite all of God’s children … to come unto their Savior and enjoy the blessings of the temple.”
