“Thanksgiving,” Friend, Nov. 1971, inside back cover
Thanksgiving
The Pilgrims toiled, the Pilgrims prayed,
And met their problems unafraid.
Then, with their neighbors, every one,
And red men, from the first to least,
They gathered for a thankful feast.
The food was spread upon the board,
And with bowed heads they thanked the Lord,
Then feasted on the gifts of God
That came from woods, and sea, and sod.
Through all the years that lie between
The present and that Pilgrim scene,
Men have been blessed in countless ways.
We thank thee, Lord, with love and praise.
