“Valentine,” Friend, Feb. 1973, inside front cover
Valentine
I’d like to make a valentine
All shiny red and bright
That’s trimmed with pretty flowers
And three doves of pearly white.
I’d like to make a valentine
As fancy as could be,
And send it on its way at once
With love to you from me.
But I’m not very fancy
And I can’t draw too well;
So I’ve made a little plain one,
And hope that it will tell
That I am very fond of you,
And that it’s sent to say,
“I wish you lots of happiness
Today—and every day.”
