“Sun,” Friend, May 1978, 27
Sun
The sun seems to be setting
Or slipping into bed,
But far around the curving earth
Good mornings now are said.
For though the sun has filled our day
And night is coming on,
Half round the world away
The day is just at dawn.
The sun keeps on shining,
But the earth turns in such a way
That half the world has nighttime
While the other half has day.
I think this plan is very wise
And fair to everyone,
Because it gives most parts of earth
An equal share of sun.
