“Autumn Time,” Friend, Oct. 1979, inside back cover
Autumn Time
Yes, sir! Autumn’s here!
Crinkly, crunchy time of year.
Time for leaves zigzagging down—
Red and russet, gold and brown.
Time for raking them in piles
And for jack-o’-lantern smiles.
Time for apples, crisp and round,
When the harvest wealth is found.
All about, high in the sky,
Southbound birds prepare to fly.
Now’s the time for goldenrod
To lift bright spires from the sod.
Now’s the time that my heart sings
For all the beauty autumn brings.
