“A Blessing on the Dressing,” Friend, Nov. 1980, 33
A Blessing on the Dressing
Grandma brought the turkey in,
Sizzly, plump, and browned;
Grandpa carved the tender bird
And passed the plates around.
When everyone was full at last,
Grandma sighed and then,
“Was everything all right?” she asked,
With a smile for little Glenn.
Glenn said, “No offense, Grandma,
The turkey wasn’t great;
But I’ll tell what was really good—
I loved the bread it ate.”
