“Caught!” Friend, Sept. 1986, 27
Caught!
The knot was tight around my foot—
I could not get it loose!
It couldn’t be much worse, I thought,
Unless it were a noose.
I struggled vainly, searching for
A way to pull it free.
But like a giant octopus,
That knot was holding me.
“Please, someone, help!” I shouted out
And hoped someone would hear.
“I’ll never get this knot undone!”
But no one else was near.
At last I felt it give a bit—
I laughed until I cried!
It was a lot of trouble.
But I got my shoe untied!
