Christmas Candy Cookies
4 tablespoons margarine, softened
1/4 cup light corn syrup
pinch of salt
3 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
chopped nuts or flaked coconut or raisins or chopped candied fruit or chocolate chips or small candies

Cream syrup and salt into margarine.

Mix in sugar a little at a time, kneading well with each addition. Add a very few drops of water, if needed.

When mixture is smooth and thick, divide into three or four bowls, and mix one of remaining ingredients into each portion.

Form into 1″ (2.5 cm) balls, place on cookie sheet, flatten slightly with fingers, and chill until firm.
