“Welcome to Spring,” Friend, Mar. 1987, 27
Welcome to Spring
Off with the big boots,
The scarves and the mitts,
hick bulky snowsuits,
And heavy wool knits—
No shoveling snow
Or slipping on hills,
No frost-bitten noses,
Cold fingers, or chills—
Winter’s past,
At last!
Hear the birds singing;
Enjoy the warm sun.
Leaf buds are bursting,
And sap’s on the run.
Get out the baseballs,
The skipping ropes, too,
And new roller skates—
There’s so much to do!
Spring is here—
Let’s cheer!
