Macaroni Bead Necklace

To make this necklace, you will need: salad and wheel macaroni, a clean glass jar with a lid, rubbing alcohol, food coloring, paper towels or newspaper, and a long cordlike shoelace.

  1. Decide how many colors you want to have. Remember to leave part of the macaroni its natural color.

  2. Put 1 teaspoon of rubbing alcohol and several drops of one food coloring into a jar and mix well. Then pour in 1/2 cup of macaroni, screw on the lid, and shake the jar. Place the colored macaroni on a paper towel to dry. Clean the jar, then repeat the procedure for each remaining color.

  3. Tie a knot in one end of the shoelace, then string the macaroni onto the shoelace. When it is almost completely strung with macaroni, untie the knot and tie the two ends together.
