“Centipede,” Friend, July 1990, 19
Centipede
Prodding, plodding,
Very lowly,
Bending his body,
Stepping slowly.
Dancing, prancing—
Oh, what legs!—
Thin like needles,
Long like pegs!
Worming, squirming
Round a mound,
On he creeps
Upon the ground.
Finding, winding
Near the trees—
Just imagine
What he sees!
