Handcart Races

Celebrate Pioneer Day with your own handcart race. First, color both figures and carefully cut out along the heavy lines. Then mount them on lightweight cardboard. Punch a hole where marked in each box.

Cut two pieces of twine or lightweight string 6′ (1.8 m) long. Tie one end of each string to a sturdy object such as a table leg, chair leg, or even a fence. Thread one figure onto each string.

Make your handcarts move by quickly raising and lowering the strings. The first handcart to the opposite end of its string wins!
