Valentine Basket

  • To make a valentine basket to hold small treats, you will need: one pink and one white 3 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ (9 cm x 27 cm) strip of construction paper (or another color combination, if you wish), scissors, pencil, ruler, one 1/2″ x 8″ (1.3 cm x 20 cm) strip of white construction paper, and glue or a stapler.

  1. Fold the wide strips of paper in half and use the scissors to round the ends (see Figure 1).

  2. Using a ruler and a pencil, divide the folded strips into thirds. Lightly draw two 3 1/2″ (9 cm) lines parallel to the sides (see Figure 2). Cut along the lines.

  3. Weave the pink and white strips together, slipping the sections inside each other (see Figure 3).

  4. Glue or staple the narrow white strip to both sides of the basket for a handle (see Figure 4). Fill the heart basket with small wrapped candies, and give it to a friend or family member for Valentine Day.
