Words to Live By
Your Patriarchal Blessing
Adapted from April 2023 general conference addresses by Elder Kazuhiko Yamashita and Elder Randall K. Bennett of the Seventy.
-
Contains personal counsel from the Lord to you.
-
Declares your lineage in the house of Israel.
-
Is personal scripture.
-
Is sacred and confidential.
-
Does not map out your life.
-
Does not answer all your questions.
If it doesn’t mention an important life event, do not take that to mean you won’t have that opportunity. A patriarchal blessing is eternal, and if you live worthy, promises that are not fulfilled in this life will be granted in the next.
How Old Should You Be?
-
Mature enough to understand the significance and sacred nature of the blessing and understand the basic doctrine of the gospel.
-
Ideally young enough that many important decisions in life are still ahead.
