Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible
The Kirtland Safety Society was founded in 1836 as a community bank with the goal to provide credit and raise money for those in Ohio. By August 1837, the bank had been refused a charter by the state of Ohio, and a national financial crisis led to the bank’s collapse.
