They Testify of Him

Throughout history, Heavenly Father has called courageous and honorable men to be prophets. They are special witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Prophets are called to testify of the Savior, to teach us that He died so we might repent and return to live with our Father in Heaven. They tell us of Jesus’ great love for us. Many prophets’ testimonies are found in the scriptures. To hear the testimony of our living prophet, we can listen to or read his general conference talks.

Instructions

Match each testimony at right with the prophet who gave that testimony. Write the number of each testimony under the correct prophet’s name. If you need help, look up the reference at the end of each testimony. Then record your own testimony of Jesus Christ in your journal. Share your testimony during family home evening.

Joseph Smith, Jr.

1 “I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did … speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true; … For I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it” (JS—H 1:25).

Nephi

2 “And I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world, of whom my father had spoken; and I also beheld the prophet who should prepare the way before him. And the Lamb of God went forth and was baptized of him; and after he was baptized, I beheld the heavens open, and the Holy Ghost come down out of heaven and abide upon him in the form of a dove” (1 Ne. 11:27).

Peter

3 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6).

Isaiah

4 “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
“And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
“He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
“And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16:13–16).

President Gordon B. Hinckley

5 “Let it be understood by all that Jesus Christ stands at the head of this church which bears His sacred name. He is watching over it. He is guiding it. Standing at the right hand of His Father, He directs this work” (“God Is at the Helm,” Ensign, May 1994, 59).
