“Testimony of Jesus Christ,” Liahona, February 2020
Testimony of Jesus Christ
“And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!
“For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—
“That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God.”
Doctrine and Covenants 76:22–24; emphasis added.
He lives!
-
Jesus Christ rose from the tomb (see Matthew 28:6).
-
He has a body of flesh and bone (see Luke 24:39; Doctrine and Covenants 130:22).
-
His resurrected body is glorified and immortal.
We saw him
-
God has always followed the pattern of calling eyewitnesses (see Acts 5:32).
-
He called Joseph Smith as a latter-day witness of the living Christ.
We heard the voice
A heavenly voice, often the Father’s voice, has testified at other times that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (see Matthew 3:17; 3 Nephi 11:7; Joseph Smith—History 1:17).
Worlds are and were created
Under the direction of the Father, Jesus Christ created “worlds without number” (Moses 1:33).
Inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters
Some other worlds are inhabited. We don’t know much about those people (see Moses 1:35), but we do know they are children of Heavenly Father and are saved through Jesus Christ’s Atonement.
