Memorize References and Key Scripture Phrases

Remembering scripture references and what is taught in them can help you in many ways. This lesson is intended to help you memorize multiple scripture references and key scripture phrases from the final 12 doctrinal mastery passages in the Book of Mormon.

Practice memorizing the scripture references and key scripture phrases you selected. You may want to use some or all of the following exercises:

  1. If it is available, use the flash card feature on the Doctrinal Mastery app.

  2. Write each scripture reference and key scripture phrase, leaving out a few words. Practice repeating the key scripture phrase by filling in the missing words.

  3. Write down the first letters for each word of the scripture reference and key scripture phrase. Do this for each of the passages you want to memorize. Practice memorizing the scripture reference and key scripture phrase using the first letters.

  4. Write down the reference and key scripture phrase. Scramble the words and numbers by cutting the paper into separate words. Mix up the words and numbers and then put them back in the correct order.

  5. Select at least one doctrinal mastery passage and see if you can memorize the entire passage. Consider using the memorize feature in the Doctrinal Mastery app or one of the other methods listed above to help you memorize.
