Apply Doctrinal Mastery Passages
Learning to apply the Lord’s words in the holy scriptures can bless you in many ways. This lesson can help you apply truths in doctrinal mastery passages from the second half of the Book of Mormon.
Momentum
Imagine you pushed or kicked a ball. What could influence how far or how fast the ball rolls?
Momentum is one way to describe the strength or force of a moving object. For example, a bicycle is put into motion as the rider pushes off the ground, and it keeps momentum as the rider maintains balance and continues pedaling. The bicycle gains momentum as the rider increases their effort in pedaling or if the road has a downward incline.

The Power of Spiritual Momentum
We have never needed positive spiritual momentum more than we do now, to counteract the speed with which evil and the darker signs of the times are intensifying. Positive spiritual momentum will keep us moving forward amid the fear and uncertainty created by pandemics, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and armed hostilities. Spiritual momentum can help us withstand the relentless, wicked attacks of the adversary and thwart his efforts to erode our personal spiritual foundation. (Russell M. Increasing spiritual momentum

Imagine that you are the bicyclist, and the pathway represents your life. You might notice how the first part of your path is straight, but then you encounter obstacles and inclines that require greater effort to overcome. Think about the spiritual momentum you need to successfully move through life and the obstacles and challenges that you may experience.
