Lesson 92: Alma 34–35

Prayerfully consider how the Book of Mormon Videos might help your students identify, understand, feel the truth and importance of, and apply the doctrine and principles taught in the Book of Mormon. Each suggested video is a short segment within an entire episode. Use the start and stop timecode to show each clip within the episode.

You could show this video segment when you arrive at the part of the lesson that states:

“Point out that Amulek then shared his own testimony of the Savior. Ask a few students to take turns reading aloud from Alma 34:8–10. Invite the class to follow along, looking for phrases that teach why we need Jesus Christ.”

Instead of asking a few students to take turns reading aloud from Alma 34:8–10, you might display the following questions from the teacher material and then show this video segment.

• “According to verse 8, what did Amulek teach that Jesus Christ would do for us?”

• “Which words in verse 9 help us understand why we need the Savior’s Atonement?”

• “What causes us to be ‘fallen’ and ‘lost’ (verse 9)?”

• “Which words in verse 10 describe the Savior’s sacrifice for us?”

• “How would you summarize Amulek’s teachings in Alma 34:8–10 as a statement of doctrine?”

After students watch the segment, invite them to discuss their answers to the questions. As they discuss, encourage them to mark in Alma 34:8–10 phrases that help them answer the questions. Then proceed with the lesson as outlined in the teacher material.
