Lesson 94: Alma 37

Prayerfully consider how the Book of Mormon Videos might help your students identify, understand, feel the truth and importance of, and apply the doctrine and principles taught in the Book of Mormon. Each suggested video is a short segment within an entire episode. Use the start and stop timecode to show each clip within the episode.

Alma entrusts Helaman with the records.

Using This Video

You could show this video segment when you arrive at the part of the lesson that states:

“Invite a student to read Alma 37:6–7 aloud. Ask the class to follow along, looking for truths Alma taught about the value of ‘small and simple things’ (verse 6).”

Instead of asking a few students to take turns reading aloud from Alma 37:6–7, you might display the following question from the teacher lesson material and then show this video segment.

• “What truths do we learn from these verses about the value of ‘small and simple things’?”

After students watch the segment, invite them to discuss their answers to the question. As they discuss, encourage them to mark in Alma 37:6–7 phrases that help them answer the question. Then proceed with the lesson as outlined in the teacher material.

You could show this video segment when you arrive at the part of the lesson that states:

“Explain to your fellow students that you are going to ask them questions and then have them take turns reading a few verses aloud while everyone looks for the answers. Have them respond to each question after the associated scripture passage has been read.”

Instead of asking a few students to take turns reading aloud from Alma 37:38–45, the student teaching might display the following questions from the student teacher material and then show this video segment.

• “How did the Liahona work? (See Alma 37:38–40.)”

• “Why did the Liahona cease to work at times? (See Alma 37:41–42.)”

• “How might we compare the Liahona to the words of Christ? (See Alma 37:43–45.)”
