My Calling as a Counselor in the Stake Young Women Presidency
Responsibilities
The Lord is grateful for your willingness to serve in His Church. Below is an overview of the responsibilities for your calling.
Purpose of Young Women
The Young Women organization helps God’s beloved daughters prepare to return to His presence. It helps young women become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ as they make and keep sacred covenants and deepen their conversion. In their classes and gatherings, young women serve others, fulfill covenant responsibilities, build unity, and learn and live doctrine. (See General Handbook, 11.1.1.)
Stake Young Women Counselor
The stake Young Women counselor prepares the Lord’s “youth battalion” to gather Israel through participating in efforts to build faith and strengthen individuals (see Russell M. Nelson and Wendy W. Nelson, “Hope of Israel” [worldwide youth devotional, June 3, 2018], Gospel Library). She helps familiarize new ward presidencies, offers ongoing support, and serves on the stake youth leadership committee (see 29.3.9).
Meetings
Stake Young Women counselors instruct ward organization presidencies during annual stake leadership meetings (see 29.3.4), attend presidency meetings and coordinating council meetings when invited by the Area Seventy (see 29.4), and speak in sacrament meetings and other settings when invited by the stake presidency.
Activities
Under the direction of the stake presidency, the stake Young Women presidency will also plan and coordinate stake Young Women activities and camps (see 6.7.1.2). For multiple stakes, presidencies counsel together to recommend combined activities to the stake presidency (see 20.3.1).
Guidelines and Policies
Additional guidelines and policies are found in section 11.6 of the General Handbook.
