My Calling as a Young Women Class President
Responsibilities
The Lord is grateful for your willingness to serve in His Church. Below is an overview of the responsibilities for your calling.
Purpose of Young Women
The Young Women organization helps God’s beloved daughters prepare to return to His presence. It helps young women become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ as they make and keep sacred covenants and deepen their conversion. In their classes and gatherings, young women serve others, fulfill covenant responsibilities, build unity, and learn and live doctrine. (See General Handbook, 11.1.1.)
Young Women Class President
Class presidents lead the class’s efforts to participate in God’s work of salvation and exaltation, get to know and serve each young woman, plan and conduct Sunday class meetings and other activities, participate in ward efforts to share the gospel, and participate in temple and family history efforts (see 11.3.4.2). Her counselors assist her.
Presidency Meetings
Young Women class presidencies meet regularly and are joined by the adult Young Women leaders assigned to support them. They counsel together and seek revelation about the Lord’s will for their class. These meetings may include discussions on serving class members, with special attention to supporting new members and reaching out to less-active members, and planning class meetings, service, and activities. (See 11.3.4.3.)
Ward Youth Council
The ward youth council discusses ways to help others build testimonies, receive saving ordinances, keep covenants, and become consecrated followers of Jesus Christ. They counsel together about the needs of the young women and young men in the ward. They may discuss activities to meet these needs. (See 11.3.4.4.)
