How Can I Become Self-Reliant?
Becoming self-reliant means that you can provide for your basic needs without assistance from others. It also means that you are trying to learn new skills to improve your life. As you work with Church leaders and members, they will introduce you to some of the ways the Church can help. However, the Church is not alone in providing resources and programs to help people become more self-reliant. Many community groups provide help to previously incarcerated individuals.
Finding employment may be challenging. Learn to talk openly and honestly about your background. Seek counsel from Church leaders and treatment providers about how to find employment. Provide potential employers access to your recent treatment assessments and summaries of your progress and readiness for employment.
