How Can I Participate in Church while on Probation or Parole?

There are many ways for individuals on probation or parole to enjoy the blessings of the gospel and progress toward the Savior. Church leaders have been given instructions on how to help. (See General Handbook, chapter 32.) Contact your bishop or branch president to help you plan and feel comfortable. He will welcome you and help guide you. To help your leader understand how to help you, fully explain your situation, including any legal restrictions that you must follow. Your bishop or branch president will determine the steps for you to follow before attending Church meetings and will establish guidelines for your participation. If your membership privileges were previously restricted, your bishop or branch president will determine when you will be able to return to full participation. Also, be aware that some legal officers, such as parole or probation officers, may place restrictions on when you can attend church.
