Friends are easy to talk to …
Try this simple experiment. It’s not too difficult; it requires you to do nothing. For the next two weeks say nothing at all to your closest friend. If he or she speaks or calls, don’t answer. Simply say nothing.
Sound easy enough? Think of all the effort you’ll save. No thinking up conversations when you’re tired. No extending yourself with weary talk. You can go about your work pretending your friend doesn’t exist. Think of all the extra time you’ll have to do more important things.
At the end of two weeks note what has happened between you and your friend. How close has your relationship become?
Many ignore God, though he calls us to pray always. “Speak to me,” he says. Yet many return only silence. Is it any wonder so many people don’t know God at all?
Do you?
