Ties That Bind
You speak of going to grandmother’s place
As if you can barely recall her face.
I now think back to her kitchen shelf
and moments when I would pride myself
on my restraint at eating but two
when only the baker’s dozen would do.
Grandma left, but her sweetest thoughts
are tied to my heart with cinnamon knots.
