Called to Serve
Young Men Presidency
Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone has been called to serve as General President of the Young Men program of the Church. His counselors are Elder Rex D. Pinegar, first counselor, and Elder Robert L. Simpson, second counselor. All three men are members of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
Elder Featherstone was called as a General Authority on April 6, 1972. At the time of his call he was corporate training manager of a food company in Boise, Idaho. He has served in the Presiding Bishopric and as first counselor in the Young Men General Presidency. He and his wife, Merlene Miner, are the parents of seven children.
Elder Pinegar was named to the First Council of the Seventy on October 6, 1972. At the time of his call, he was serving as mission president of the North Carolina-Virginia Mission. He had been chairman of the Educational Psychology Department at BYU and had also served on the Sunday School General Board. He and his wife, Bonnie Lee Crabb, are the parents of six children.
Elder Simpson was called to serve in the Presiding Bishopric in 1961. In 1972 he was called to be an Assistant to the Council of the Twelve. Prior to being called to the Young Men General Presidency, Elder Simpson was a managing director in the Temple Department. He and his wife, Jelaire Chandler, have three children.
