Simeon

(Luke 2:25–32)

Simeon held a child in his arms,

Called by the Spirit to the temple.

He was so very old, this man

Of God; but waited, promised

By the Holy Ghost that he would

See Emmanuel before his death.

Now, as he raised the infant high,

Presenting him to God his Father;

Simeon praised the Lord in mighty

Prayer, for he had heard

The Spirit, with clear trumpet sound,

And the echo of the angels,

Crying, “Here is Christ the King!”
