The Master Designer
I got up this morning, early, before the sun,
And with a pen and pencil, ink and oil,
Endeavored to copy the work of the Master.
He starts with royal purple and a rosy pink.
I mix my colors,
Almost, but not quite right.
There!
I’m ready to start.
His canvas has changed already.
The pink is a fiery orange,
The satiny purple, a pale blue.
I know if I remix my colors,
His will change again.
I don’t know how He paints this beautiful canvas
That changes with each passing moment.
I don’t know, yet.
But one day I will,
And I, too,
Will paint.
