An invitation with a promise.

This year’s youth theme is Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Two short verses with a lot of meaning. Let’s break it down.

• “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart.” Fellow mortals might let us down sometimes, but we don’t have to worry about that with God. We can trust Him completely!
• “And lean not unto thine own understanding.” Whatever the topic is, God knows more about it than we do. Do we pay attention to His promptings and teachings?
• “In all thy ways acknowledge him.” God is very patient. But one thing that does upset Him is when we don’t acknowledge His blessings in our lives (see Doctrine and Covenants 59:21).
• “And he shall direct thy paths.” If we do these things, the promise is clear. Embrace the guidance and love!
