Activity: Exploring Gospel Library

Help children find and use resources in the Gospel Library app.

Ask the children to list all the different kinds of Church materials they have seen or used, such as scriptures, magazines, videos, or manuals.

Explain that all of these materials and more are available in the Gospel Library app and online at ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

• If possible, invite parents and children to bring a mobile device or tablet that has the Gospel Library app on it. With a parent’s permission, download the app if necessary.
• Connect your device to a television or monitor (if possible) to demonstrate how to use the app.
• Show the children where to find the scriptures, magazines, videos, and other resources.
• Demonstrate how to navigate, take notes, and add bookmarks in the app. Allow the children time to practice these skills.

Invite the children to use the Gospel Library or ChurchofJesusChrist.org in their personal and family study, especially on the Sabbath.

Please adapt activities as necessary to ensure all individuals are able to participate, belong, and contribute.

• A Church Account allows users to save their notes and bookmarks within Gospel Library and on ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Many children likely access Gospel Library through a parent’s account. If children would like to create their own Church Account, they will need to get their membership number from the ward clerk, or their membership record number can be found in their membership information on the Member Tools app (if available). With their parents’ permission, here is how you can help them create an account:
  • Go to account.ChurchofJesusChrist.org
  • Select “Register for a Church Account.”
  • Follow the prompts on the screen to create the account.

• If available, demonstrate some of the other Church apps, such as Sacred Music, FamilySearch, and Doctrinal Mastery.
• If children do not have access to the Gospel Library app but do have access to the internet, show them how to find Church videos, music, magazines, and other resources on ChurchofJesusChrist.org and other sites.

Encourage children to talk about how what they are learning can help them and others grow closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Discussions can take place before, during, or after the activity and should last just a few minutes. You could ask questions like the following:

• How can the Gospel Library and the Church website help you grow closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ?
• How can you use these resources to honor the Sabbath?
