If you’re a member of the Church, your life has been blessed by Relief Society. (Yes guys, you too!)
Relief Society is not just a fun ladies’ club for organizing activities—although fun is good, and so are activities! The purpose of Relief Society goes way beyond that. Its purpose is to “prepare women for the blessings of eternal life.”1
And a lot of that has to do with helping others. Providing relief from pain and suffering. Through Relief Society, women uplift, teach, love, and help each other—as well as the world.
Here are some powerful promises Joseph Smith shared with the very first group of Relief Society women 180 years ago.
- “Knowledge and intelligence shall flow down from this time.”
- “If you live up to your privileges, the angels cannot be restrained from being your associates.”
- “If this Society listen to the counsel of the Almighty . . . they shall have power to command queens in their midst.”2
