New hymn alert!

There are 13 of them!

You might have heard that the Church is working on a new hymnbook that will be completed by 2026.

In the meantime, we are getting some new songs digitally. The first batch of 13 dropped at the end of May!

Listen to the recordings, read the lyrics, and download sheet music for the new songs here. Recognize any of them?

Some of these “new” songs have actually been around for a while and are just now being included in our hymnbook. Several were written by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while some come from other Christian faiths.

One favorite, “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing,” was in an older hymnbook (published in 1948), cut from the current one (published in 1985), and now has been restored by popular demand.

There are also three Christmas songs and an Easter hymn in this batch, plus two brand-new sacrament hymns.

Wards and branches are welcome to start singing these songs now, so keep an eye and ear out for them!

Here are some other facts about the new hymnbook:

  • Right now different areas of the world have different collections of hymns, but the new hymnbook will have the same songs in every language.
  • It’ll also be used in both sacrament meeting and Primary, instead of having two separate collections.
  • It’ll be called “Hymns—For Home and Church,” and is expected to have around 450–500 songs in total!
