Thousands to see Promised Valley

Mormon Miracle Comes to Manti

The Hill Cumorah Pageant: America’s Witness for Christ

Dates for the 29th annual presentation of “America’s Witness for Christ” at the Hill Cumorah near Palmyra, New York, have been announced.

This year the production, which attracts more than 100,000 viewers each year, will be staged July 26, 27, 30, and 31, and August 1, 2, and 3.

Utilizing a cast of several hundred, the pageant tells the story of the Book of Mormon.

Promised Valley Playhouse

“Promised Valley,” the Church–produced musical story of the pioneers’ arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, again will be a highlight for thousands of visitors to Salt Lake City this summer.

Presented each summer in the Church’s Promised Valley Playhouse, the musical is an entertaining summary of Church history for both members and nonmembers.

Tickets to the production are distributed on a complimentary basis at the Visitors Center on Temple Square. Performances are scheduled nightly, except Sundays and Mondays, from July 2 to August 31. Performances will be held twice nightly beginning August 1.

The Mormon Miracle Pageant: July 11, 12, 13, 16–20, 1974 Manti, Utah

The road to Manti, Utah, will be well traveled this summer as Church members go to view the “Mormon Miracle” pageant.

The pageant is presented annually on Temple Hill against the backdrop of the Manti Temple. It tells the gospel story in the Americas prior to the time of Christ, portrays the restoration through Joseph Smith, and relives the pioneer trek to the Great Salt Lake Valley.

The program will begin at 9:00 p.m. July 11–13 and 16–20. There is no admission charge.

Ricks College Adopts New Tri-Semester

The addition of another term of summer school at Ricks College will give the school a new tri-semester program.

The new five-week term will come at the end of the winter semester and will be followed by two additional five-week terms. The three five-week terms are equivalent to a third semester. Prior to this year, students at Ricks have finished winter semester on about May 1 of each year, and have been unable to attend summer school until a month later.

The five-week spring term will operate with classes held only Monday through Thursday, covering a broad range of upper- and lower-division work. The new term offers incoming students an opportunity to get a head start on their college career and still have most of the summer to work.

Information about the new term and other academic programs may be obtained by writing:

BYU Increases Tuition for Undergraduates

Beginning with the 1974 autumn semester, tuition at Brigham Young University will increase $20 per semester for undergraduate students.

Tuition for members of the Church will now be $320 per semester. Nonmembers will now pay $480 for tuition per semester.

According to university spokesmen, this is the first increase in tuition costs in three years at the university, while expenses required to operate the school have increased sharply.

Tuition for the graduate professional programs—Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, and Master of Accountancy—has not changed.
