A Desire to Play the Organ

Twenty-eight years ago I felt impressed to learn to play the organ. I had previously learned to play the accordion and piano, but the compelling desire to learn to play the organ I could not understand until I became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 17 years later.

All my life I had avoided any confrontation with the missionaries, but when my wife made an appointment with them to come to our home, I resolved to be kind and tolerant. I would convince them that my own homemade faith was good enough for me and my family.

When I opened the door for them that night and they passed by me into the house, it was as though I had been hit on the head. At the same time a voice within me whispered that the message the missionaries had for me was true. This happened in March 1963, and on the 30th of that month my wife and I were baptized.

I have been the organist of the Copenhagen North Branch for 11 years, and I now have the honor of playing for the area conference in Stockholm this year.
