Devoted to Devotionals

Morning devotionals at our home are especially helpful to our young family. After family scripture study we take five minutes to memorize and review the Articles of Faith, Ten Commandments, and selected scriptures. By age three and one-half, our second daughter had all thirteen Articles of Faith memorized—just from the constant repetition!

Then each child chooses a song for all the family to sing. We include songs we are learning for various programs and congregational hymns for Sunday so our Primary-age children will learn the adult songs. How they sparkle at church when they realize they can sing with the grown-ups!

We close our special time with family prayer, exchange hugs and “I love you’s” before scurrying off to breakfast. It’s a special way to begin our day!—Lina Hatch, Gilbert, Arizona
