Kitchen Krafts:
Singapore Recipes
Beef Porridge
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup rice
1/2 pound beef or pork, diced
1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
chopped green onion shoots

Bring water to boil, then stir in salt and rice. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes.

Brown meat and add with soy sauce to rice. Cover, and continue cooking for 15 minutes or until meat is done. (Add more water if needed.)

Garnish rice with onion shoots.
Potato and Onion Soup
2 medium potatoes
2 onions
1 carrot
1/2 cup barley
6 cups water
seasonings

Peel and chop potatoes, onions, and carrot.

Put water, barley, and vegetables into a pan. Cover and bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until barley is cooked.

Season to taste.
