Sharing Time:

Sing Another Time

For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart. (D&C 25:12.)

If thou art merry, praise the Lord with singing. (D&C 136:28.)

You can add variety to your singing during family home evenings with a music clock (see instructions). Choose a song, then ask someone in your family to move the clock hand to a number. Turn over the circle the hand points to and follow the instructions. You could sing favorite songs or learn a new song for this activity.

Instructions: Mount this page on heavy paper. If possible, cover with clear contact paper, or laminate for durability. Cut out all parts. Attach clock hand with brass fastener. Attach circles facedown with masking tape.

Sharing Time Ideas

  1. Enlarge and color clock. If clock is attached to box, it will stand alone.

  2. Tape instruction circles facedown on clock in random order. Occasionally rearrange their positions to maintain interest.

  3. Choose song to sing—an old favorite or a new one you want children to learn.

  4. Invite a child to move clock hand to any number, then follow singing instructions on circle.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as desired.
